Parent Education Program

Monthly Meetings and Parent Education Presentation are offered September through May, except in December. Guest speakers are invited to present a topic relating to autism.  Information on this month’s topic can be found on the Calendar or in the current issue of The Echo. Free childcare is available.  However, if needing childcare, please call our office to reserve a spot at least 24 hours in advance. After The Diagnosis

Get Answers, Get Help, Get Going!, offered during Circle of Parents support group at no charge  the first Thursday of the month from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Childcare is provided.

The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Process

Building Success for Your Child at School, provides an opportunity for parents and providers to learn all about IEPs.  It will be offered quarterly.  Check our Calendar or Events page to register for this workshop or you can call our office at 910-826-3005/3004.  Childcare is not available.

Additional Programs

LEGO Club

Through play, parents discover how to interact with their child that promotes communication, problem-solving and fun-centered learning. Each meeting has a common building theme so everyone can participate and time set aside for students to explain what they built. Neuro- typical siblings are encouraged to attend and will be asked to promote social interactions with students on the spectrum.

High Functioning Autism Social Group

The group was established to help young adults on the spectrum increase and strengthen their social interaction. We welcome parents, caregivers, and young adults with HFA to join us for this exciting opportunity. The group meets the 2nd Monday of alternating months at 5:45 pm in the Partnership for Children Building.

IPad For Autism Project

Access to iPads and Autism Specific Applications is offered on-site.

Learn how to use and enjoy the iPad by using autism applications such as Social Express, Injini, Proloquo2go, and Model Me Going Places for one-hour sessions. These sessions are offered on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
